Questions

Plain answers.

The things people ask before they trust an app with their money.

Do I have to connect my bank?

No. On Free you type your purchases in. Bank connections are coming with Plus, and they’re optional there too.

If I type a purchase and my bank imports it too, does it count twice?

No. Imports don’t count until you confirm them. When one matches something you typed, same amount within 2 days, Mortban offers to merge the two and marks your entry as verified.

What happens when a jar goes over?

The jar gets an Over stamp and Mort looks worried. You’ll see how much it’s over and where it comes from: "Shopping is $31 over. It comes out of this month’s savings." That’s all.

Can I make my own jars?

Yes. Start from Own a home, Rent or Student, or start with none, then add, rename, recolor and reorder jars whenever you like. A renamed jar keeps its history.

What happens to what’s left at the end of the month?

It goes to savings, unless you turn on Carry leftovers for that jar. Then it moves into next month’s jar. Going over never carries: it comes out of that month’s savings.

Is there an app to download?

Not yet. Mortban is a web app you add to your home screen, where it opens like any other app and can still show your numbers offline. iPhone and Android apps are planned after that.

Can I share jars with my partner?

Not in the first version. Each account has its own jars for now.

Do you sell my data?

No. Mortban will never sell your data, and it doesn’t show ads.

Can I take my data with me?

Yes. Export to CSV whenever you like, and delete your account from Settings when you want to.

How much does it cost?

Free if you type your purchases in. Plus, coming soon, is $6 a month billed yearly, or $8 month to month, and adds your bank. It’ll come with a 14-day free trial and no card.
